Imaging: Definitions of Imaging (W. Wolf)

  1. Anatomical imaging: defines an object (organ, tissue) in an anatomically defined 2 or 3 dimensional space. MRI, PET, CT
  2. Physiologic or functional imaging: adds the temporal dimension to anatomic imaging. MRI, PET
  3. Chemical imaging: defines a chemical compound [or family of compounds] in an anatomical space. PET
  4. Pharmacokinetic imaging: adds the temporal dimension to chemical imaging. PET
